How To Stop A Squeaky Bed From Squeaking Three Easy Tricks

Our stressful lives, our noisy neighbors, blue light from our displays, caffeine and our loud neighbours are all reasons to be awake at night. A mattress that creaks every time you move on it is the last thing you need.

It was initially not noticeable at first. But over time it has become so pervasive that you can’t even reach the light in your nightstand without hearing the alarming noise.

We have been there, so you can trust us. We are here to help you get the restful sleep you want.

We’ll first help you identify where this sound is coming. This is the most important step. We’ll then help you explore the many options available to get rid of the squeak depending on the source.

You are a mature adult, and should not have to leave their rendezvous at the ground in order to not wake the rest of your home. Your mattress should not creak every night you get into bed for the evening.

How To Tell If Your Bed Is Making Noise

First, find out the source of the squeak. This could be your mattress, your box spring, or your frame.

You will need to take apart each bed item to inspect them individually. You should have enough space in your bedroom for the box spring and mattress to be placed on the ground next to each other. If not, you can do them one at a time or move your bed to another area for inspection.

Let’s begin at the top, with the mattress. Hybrids with coils are the only ones that squeak, while mattresses rarely squeak.

All-foam has never made any sound. You can roll your mattress on the ground or let your children play on it. Check to see if the warranty is still valid on your mattress if it’s squeaking.

Certain bed companies, like Nest Bedding and DreamCloud, offer lifetime warranties.

If your mattress isn’t covered by warranty, it is best to get a new one.

Take our mattress finder quiz and discover which option is best for you. If buying a brand new mattress is impossible, flip your mattress over and insert an innerspring/coil into the cloth. Each one should be sprayed separately so that the squeaking can be covered.

The box spring is the most likely culprit. Bed squeaking is most common in the box spring. As you did with the mattress, place the box spring on the ground and then roll on it.

Even if the box spring was noisy, it is worth checking the framework. Begin by lightly pressing on different areas of the bed frame, and then gently shaking it.

This includes all four sides, as well as the bottom foundations and the headboard. If you have a four-poster, be sure to inspect the overhead. There are two options if the sound is coming out of the bed frame.

It is time to tighten it.To find out which malware is causing your bed frame to fall apart, look around. Sometimes, that’s all you need. If your mattress frame has screws, a screwdriver is required. A wrench is needed if the mattress frame uses bolts. To make things stable, you can also add washers.

LubricateUse WD40 or beeswax on any components you feel are too tight or rubbing against each other.

It may be necessary to coat it with several coats. It can be purchased at most hardware and home improvement stores.

You can use regular candle wax if you don’t have either of these things.

You can also add padding. You can use some of your old socks T-shirts to layer on top of the mattress frame’s slats. This creates a barrier between your mattress and your metal or wooden bed frame, so they don’t have too much friction. Cork can be used to fill in the spaces between the mattress and the wooden frame, where the box spring or mattress can rub against it.

Pay attention to your feet.If you have hardwood, the sound could be caused by the bed’s bottom rubbing against the ground.

This could cause damage to your flooring. You might also find that your mattress is becoming stoned because of the irregularities in the bottoms.

Rebuild your foundation. You will need to add additional supports if you have an RV mattress, or in a situation where the foundation is not strong enough. You can also use plywood, but not as well as cinder blocks.

If all else fails, and you are unable to get a new frame for your bed, you can always go back in time and put your mattress on the ground! To make the space feel more homey and inviting, you can look online for ideas.
